Sarah de Rijcke member of Young Academy of Europe

September 26th, 2016

SarahSarah de Rijcke, deputy director of CWTS and leader of the research group EPIC, has become member of the Young Academy of Europe. The YAE is a pan-European initiative of outstanding young scientists for networking, scientific exchange and science policy. The organization was started by grantees of the European Research Council as a bottom-up initiative. This innovative group of recognized European young scientists and scholars with outspoken views about science and science policy aims to provide input and advice from a younger generation’s perspective, "a vital requirement to shape EU-wide Science Policy for the prospering of science in Europe for future generations", according to the YAE.

De Rijcke is very happy with her new membership, which resulted from a peer based selection process. De Rijcke: "The YAE is a voice that gets heard in science policy circles. I believe that the contributions of my research group can help make a difference in changing the way science is currently governed, for instance by offering our expertise on how to develop more responsible evaluation and reward structures".
