The council offers the Faculty Board of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FSW) solicited and unsolicited advice on all matters on Faculty level relating to teaching, research, and organisation. It has both advisory rights as well as the right of consent on various matters concerning the faculty. As such, the council represents both students and staff and acts as a sounding board for the Faculty Board. The tasks and privileges of the council are based on the Wet Hoger Onderwijs (WHW) and have been written down in the faculty rules & regulations.
The Faculty Council of the FSW is comprised of 14 members: 7 staff members on behalf of all faculty employees and 7 student member who represent the faculty’s student body. A meeting between the Faculty Board and Faculty Council (the consultation meetings) is convened approximately every six weeks. These meetings are open to the public.
