I am Márcia, a Bibliometrics Analyst at the Center for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University, where I serve both as a project leader in contract research activities and as a researcher in evaluation studies. I was born and raised in the small Portuguese island of Madeira. Eventually, my desire to pursue my academic studies abroad led me to the charming country of the Netherlands. In 2017, I graduated from the research master in Urban and Economic Geography at Utrecht University.
During my thesis, I applied the principles of network theory to measure the relationship between scholars’ dissemination activities on Twitter (including various altmetrics) and research impact indicators. I previously held a position as a research assistant at Utrecht University, during which I worked on a systematic identification of knowledge migrants and communities of practice on Twitter.
