Alex Damianos

Alexander Damianos completed his ESRC-funded PhD at the law department of the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research focused on the ongoing effort of the Anthropocene Working Group to formalise the Anthropocene as a geological unit. Specifically, his interest lay in how disciplinary procedures and evaluative frameworks shape the trajectory of geoscientific research. As part of his research, Alexander spent two years conducting ethnographic research on and with the Anthropocene Working Group. Alexander has an MSc in Law, Anthropology & Society also from the LSE, and a BA in Critical & Visual Studies from Pratt Institute. In 2019, he was the recipient of the Simon Roberts Scholarship of the Modern Law Review, awarded annually to the best applicant in the fields of legal anthropology, legal ethnography, and socio-legal studies. As part of the Fluid Knowledge team, Alexander will be researching the interface of ocean science research and social policy.
