Researcher at CWTS. Sonia has a background in Environmental science, working as a civil servant and researcher for Chile and Brazil. Currently involved in European projects building open platforms on data relevant for research and innovation dynamics and policies. She studies structure, scientific impact and collaboration of Non-University Research organizations. Her research interest focus on science mapping and societal impact of science. Nowadays trying to integrate disaster risk reduction and climate change from the scientometric perspective.
She holds a MSc degree in Geography (2014) and a Bachelor in Ecology and Landscape (2004). Has worked for the government, consulting firms and non-profit sector in Chile, performing water management and Environmental Impact Assessments. Additionally, collaborated as a researcher for the Geography Department of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), developing projects about disaster risk management and water sanitation.
